Aware names head of government relations

Aware Super has named Andrea Forbes as head of government relations and policy.

Forbes first joined Aware Super in mid-2020 as a portfolio manager in the fund's asset management team. She previously spent time in government as a director with the NSW Treasury and as an executive lead with MLC Life Insurance. She also spent several years with Sunsuper as executive general manager of the fund's strategy, education, and external relations.

"As an economist with considerable experience in senior positions across the financial services sector and government, Andrea brings a track record of delivering consumer-focussed policy reforms to this role," said Aware Super chief of staff Debra Mikka.

Forbes said that her experiences with the fund over the last year have been positive. "I've been greatly impressed by the commitment of everyone in the fund to delivering the best outcomes for members while doing good in the broader community. I am delighted to be leading the Government Relations and Policy Team at an exciting and important time for our industry and fund, and look forward to supporting our members to achieve the sort of retirement they deserve."

The role comes from a reorganisation of Aware's external relations following the departure of Michael Baldwin.
