Aviva hires global heavyweight

Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva plc, has appointed a new head of distribution who is tasked with strengthening the firm's presence in Australia.

Jill Barber will also lead the Institutional and wealth sales teams in the UK, Europe, and North America.

Barber joins from GAM Investments, where she has held the role of global head of institutional solutions since November 2020.

In a career spanning 25 years in investment management, Barber has also held senior roles at Jupiter Asset Management, Franklin Templeton Investments, Hermes Fund Management and Fidelity International.

She replaces Louise Kay, who has decided to retire after three decades in the investment industry.

Aviva Investors boss Mark Versey said Barber's proven leadership skills and track record of delivering commercial growth, as well as her executive committee and board-level experience, make her an excellent addition to his leadership team and business.

Versey thanked Kay for her invaluable support to him over many years and wished her the best for her retirement.
