AVCAL appoints Head of Policy & Research

Christian Gergis has recently joined the Australian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL) as the new head of policy & research.

In the role, he has primary responsibility for developing and driving the organisation's broad base of policy and advocacy initiatives with federal and state governments across Australia.

He joins AVCAL from the Financial Services Council where he was senior policy manager & legal counsel.

Gergis has experience spanning financial services, government and law. His previous positions include as an Australian diplomat where he served for the three years in the Middle East, as well as providing policy and strategic advice to the Australian Government at the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade in Canberra. Earlier in his career, he was a commercial lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney.
