AustralianSuper has invited veteran endurance runner and independent director Anna Troup to join the UK Advisory Board.

The nation's biggest superannuation fund has clarified that the has not been appointed to the main board.

The super fund said at this current time she is the only non-executive director on the advisory board for the UK company, signalling further appointments ahead.

Troup - who is very much in demand as a non-executive director - set a new women's record for running the length of the Pennine Way.

This tough 431 km long national trail stretches for 268 miles along the central mountains of England: the Pennines and the Cheviots.

The competitive ultramarathon runner currently serves on the board of numerous companies, including Marathon Asset Management, The Pension Protection Fund and abrdn diversified income & growth Plc.

She is also the non-executive chairman of MS Amlin Investment Management.

Previously, she sat on the Charles Stanley Group and T. Bailey Financial Services boards.

As for executive roles, the endurance runner has worked in investment management since 1997, having spent over ten years at Goldman Sachs as a lead portfolio manager and three years at BlueBay Asset Management covering emerging markets.

Most recently, Troup served as head of UK bespoke solutions at Legal & General Investment Management.

"I have a passion for mountains and trails and for bringing the best lessons from high-performance sports into the boardroom," she posted on LinkedIn.

She previously chaired the Oxford University Women's Boat Club and sat on the board of The Boat Race Company, the second-biggest sporting event in London.
