Industry funds Australian Catholic Superannuation and NGS Super have announced their intention to merge, creating a fund with more than $21 billion funds under management, representing approximately 210,000 members. The funds are currently undertaking due diligence and plan to complete the merger in 2022.
Current Australian Catholic Superannuation CEO Greg Cantor has been tipped to be the chief executive for the combined organisation.
NGS Super CEO Laura Wright will take on an as-yet specified role.
Cantor has been CEO of Australian Catholic Superannuation from 1990 in a part-time capacity, taking on the role full-time in 1994.
An accountant by training, Cantor held forex roles with IBM. He became the finance manager for Sydney Catholic Schools in 1989.
Among his various directorships, Cantor previously spent nearly 10 years on the NGS board, where he first met NGS' Wright.
Other key roles between the two funds, including investment and administration, have yet to be decided. The combined board will have 12 seats that are evenly split across both funds.
