Ausbil Investment Management's head of ESG research, Mans Carlsson, has joined the Responsible Investment Association of Australia board.

The RIAA confirmed Carlsson's appointment at its Annual General Meeting last week.

Before joining Ausbil, where he has worked for six years, Carlsson worked as a senior ESG research analyst at AMP Capital.

Since 2007 he has worked as a financial analyst and an ESG specialist covering Australian, New Zealand, and Scandinavian equities.

Carlsson has done stints at Carnegie Investment Bank, Macquarie Bank, and Accenture.

"I look forward to sharing my passion for all things responsible investment and will bring experience and expertise as an ESG practitioner on a wide range of ESG issues," Carlsson said on LinkedIn.

"In particular, I would like to increase the focus on the 'S' in ESG, such as modern slavery and human rights and issues related to First Nations Peoples.

"At the meeting, the RIAA chair and I highlighted the progress our industry has made in 2021, working closely together to progress responsible investment in a manner that aligns capital with achieving a healthy and sustainable society, environment, and economy."
