Former Cbus Super CEO David Atkin is set to join AMP Capital as deputy chief executive officer.

The organisation is currently searching for a chief executive officer following the departure of Boe Pahari, who stepped back into his previous role earlier this year. Atkin will assume operational leadership of the organisation while they continue their search.

Before his 12 years at the head of the industry super fund Cbus, Atkin was the CEO of ESSSuper and Just Super. He was also the national marketing and comms manager for the Superannuation Trust of Australia.

"David is a highly-regarded leader within our industry and I'm pleased we have been able to appoint an executive of his calibre into this interim role to help drive our transformation and delivery our strategy," said AMP chief executive Franceso De Ferrari. "He has delivered improved and sustainable results in each of the organisations he has led and achieved respect through a values-based approach.

"David will bring his accumulated experience of wealth and investment management and of reshaping organisational culture, including expertise in building diverse and inclusive leadership. We are pleased he will join us immediately, strengthening AMP Capital's leadership team as we implement our strategy."

Atkin will start with AMP Capital on 7 December.
