Australian Retirement Trust has confirmed that one of its quants has departed to join the $260 billion AustralianSuper.

Hossein Rad has been an associate portfolio manager for nine months at ART, moving across from QSuper when it merged with SunSuper to create the country's second-largest super fund.

For the previous four years, Rad Hossein had worked as a portfolio analyst focussed on asset pricing and quantitative modelling.

At QSuper, he worked on the multi-asset tactical portfolio allocation process, as well as the design and implementation of in-house proprietary and systematic allocation algorithms across various investment options.

Before completing a PhD at the University of Queensland, Rad was head of financial engineering at the Iran-based Arzesh Pardaz Aryan Investment Consulting Company.

Back in 2012, he worked at Faisal Private Bank and the Adl Afarinan Mandegar Company.

His appointment comes as asset owners increasingly view quantitative capabilities as an integral part of their investment approach and portfolio construction.

They are becoming more quantitative to support their qualitative decision-making, including how they think about strategic and dynamic asset allocation and implement that through the cycle.
