Ares SSG names Australia, New Zealand chair

Former Credit Suisse Australia CEO John Knox has been named the Australia and New Zealand chair for Ares SSG.

Ares SSG is a global institutional credit-focused alternative investment manager with approximately $6.9 billion AUM as at 30 June 2020.

"As a proven leader in the Australian market for the past two decades, John will provide the local knowledge, experience and relationships to further expand the opportunity set for Ares through our Ares SSG platform," said Ares president and CEO Michael Arougheti. "We believe John can help us capitalize on our recent transactions, secure compelling new opportunities and enhance our offering for our investor base."

Knox left Credit Suisse in late 2019 after more than 24 years with the organisation, the last four as Australian CEO. He says that Ares reputation attracted him to the opportunity. It stands apart for its collaborative culture, the depth and talent within the organization, and long and distinguished investment track record.
