The prudential regulator has made a series of changes within its leadership team.

Sean Carmody, executive director of cross-industry insights and data, will swap jobs with Brandon Khoo who runs insurance.

In their new roles, Carmody assumes responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of regulated entities within the general, life, and private health insurance industries while Khoo will oversee a number of the APRA's specialist supervisory teams and drive the regulator's ongoing investment in its data and analytical capabilities.

Before working at the regulator, Carmody worked at BlackRock as a fixed income portfolio manager and at Barclays Global Investors.

Earlier, he served as head of credit portfolio management at Westpac and head of quantitative analysis at Deutsche Bank.

Before joining APRA 13 years ago,  Khoo held a series of management positions at the Australian Financial Institutions Commission and the Queensland Office of Financial Supervision.

The duo will report to APRA deputy chair Helen Rowell.

The regulator has appointed Sharon Burns as chief financial officer, replacing Michael Goddard.
Burns joins from icare, the New South Wales government's risk adviser.

Earlier, she was the head of projects, finance at MLC Insurance.

APRA  also promoted Lucinda McCann to general counsel, from deputy, replacing Warren Scott.
