Equip and Catholic Super chief investment officer Anna Shelley is set to depart later this year to take on the chief investment officer duties with a new-look AMP Australia.

Shelley joined Catholic Super in 2018 and took over duties with Equip when the two profit-for-member funds merged in 2019. She previously was the GM for product and strategy with Perpetual, leading the launch of the team's global equity capability and its first listed investment company. Shelley also held senior product and equities roles with MLC Australia and JANA.

AMP Australia chief executive Scott Hartley announced Shelley's appointment along with several other new senior roles in the business including Matt Lawler as managing director of advice and Jason Sommer as director of transformation and investments.

"As well as bringing together an experienced leadership team with four new executives, we also have an updated operating model to deliver a flatter structure to enable empowered, distributed leadership," said Hartley. "This will improve efficiency and ultimately the performance of the business by giving our leaders end-to-end operational accountability.

"The new leaders have all worked in large institutions and small to medium-sized businesses. They will bring a healthy perspective on how we ensure AMP Australia is a lean, efficient and competitive business.

"We've looked for individuals who are excited about the opportunities, have a firm grasp of the challenges we have as an organisation, and a strong sense of urgency about the changes we need to see in our business."

A spokesperson for Togethr Trustees, the combined Equip and Catholic Super, told Industry Moves, "We wish Anna well in her new role, following a successful term as CIO for Catholic Super and Equip.

"Anna will remain with Togethr Trustees until July, to deliver one of her key responsibilities of finalising the legal successor fund transfer and joint venture between Equip and Catholic Super, which will deliver significant benefits to members.

"From July, the Togethr Trustees investment team will be led by Darren Rosario, who will be acting CIO until a permanent replacement is finalised. We will be considering both internal and external candidates for the CIO post."
