AMP Capital has hired Robert Hattersley in the newly created role of chief investment officer of the fund's real estate division.

Hattersley joins AMP Capital from Lendlease where he was most recently the group chief investment officer.

As investment chief, he was responsible for all third-party capital relationships comprising over $36 billion in assets under management.

He was also responsible for sourcing equity partners and managing client relationships for Lendlease's $113 billion development pipeline.

He was the director of the Lendlease Real Estate Investment Trustee board for 17 years.

Before that, Hattersley held senior roles with Mirvac.

In his new job at AMP Capital, Hattersley will be charged with raising capital for AMP Capital Real Estate's existing funds and mandates and working closely with the origination team to raise capital for new products.

Raising capital is the top priority for the future demerged Private Markets business.

Kylie O'Connor, AMP Capital's head of real estate said Hatterley's track record of raising third-party capital makes him a welcome addition to the team.

"Rob will help ensure AMP Capital continues to be positioned as a leading fund manager in the market by identifying and developing assets that will deliver superior returns for our investment partners," she said.

Hattersley will join the fund early next year and will report to O'Connor.
