AMP Capital appoints Head of International Strategy for expanded RE leadership team

AMP Capital has announced the appointment of Merran Edwards to the role of head of international strategy, real estate.

Her appointment is one of three new roles for the real estate leadership team, with Kylie O'Connor appointed as chief operating officer and Luke Briscoe's role as managing director office & industrial being broadened to include accountability for office and mixed-use development.

AMP Capital global head of real estate, Carmel Hourigan, said of her expanded team: "The changes align to our ambitious international and domestic growth strategy and also demonstrate the strong talent pipeline and succession planning of our people."

Edwards, who has 16 years' experience in real estate and corporate advisory, joined AMP Capital in March 2016 as executive manager, origination. She was then appointed to the role of head of corporate portfolio strategy where she was responsible for the 'inorganic' growth of AMP Capital globally.

"[As head of corporate portfolio strategy] Edwards was instrumental in AMP Capital's investment into US-based real estate investment manager PCCP and this new role will harness her experience to explore and create new opportunities in key markets whilst leveraging our strategic partnerships," AMP Capital said.
