AMP Capital appoints COO for expanded RE leadership team

AMP Capital has announced the appointment of Kylie O'Connor as chief operating officer for real estate.

In this new role, O'Connor will be responsible for AMP Capital Real Estate's group-wide functions of finance, strategy, research, governance, risk and compliance, sustainability, business platforms and corporate marketing and communications.

Her appointment is one of three new roles for the real estate leadership team, with Merran Edwards appointed as head of international strategy and Luke Briscoe's role as managing director office & industrial being broadened to include accountability for office and mixed-use development.

AMP Capital global head of real estate, Carmel Hourigan, said of her expanded team: "The changes align to our ambitious international and domestic growth strategy and also demonstrate the strong talent pipeline and succession planning of our people."

O'Connor, who has 20 years' experience in property funds management with a particular focus on retail assets, is currently the fund manager for the AMP Capital Diversified Property Fund (ADPF), a role she has held since June 2015.

"O'Connor has done an outstanding job to identify and unlock value for ADPF clients, while demonstrating the strategic, systemic and enterprise thinking required for her new role as COO," AMP Capital said.

A recruitment process is underway for a new fund manager for ADPF. O'Connor will commence as COO once her successor has been appointed.
