Allianz Retire+ has added a Victorian state manager to its wealth management team following the appointments of executives to cover Western and South Australia and New South Wales.

The retirement specialist has recruited former UBS head of wholesale client coverage Marcus Cleary to fill the new role.

In his eight years with the retirement income specialists from UBS Asset Management Cleary developed and implemented sales strategy and retention for the local wholesale market.

He was previously with Colonial First State.

With over twenty years' experience across the wealth sector, he was instrumental in forging enduring connections within the advice community, both on a national scale and within boutique dealer groups.

Speaking on the appointment Allianz Australia Life Insurance chief executive Adrian Stewart said having started his career as a financial adviser Cleary shares a deep understanding of the advice community and what tools are required to help support clients, especially when planning for retirement.

He further said the firm was continually evolving to meet the needs of retirees, advisers and superfunds and Cleary's addition was a testament to this.

"We are assembling a strong team of industry leaders who understand the advice model and are committed to strengthening relationships as we continue to deliver AGILE to market and other solutions into the future."

Head of distribution wealth management, Andrew Stewart said: "Having experienced managers available to support advisers is critical as we continue to bring next-generation retirement income solutions to the market, and we are pleased to have Marcus on board."
