Akambo expands investment team

Akambo Financial Group has confirmed the appointment of Nick Bugryn as an investment manager.

Bugryn joins from the National Australia Bank where he spent nearly three years as a director.

Before that, he worked for Comsec for nine years most recently as a regional manager for advice and a portfolio manager.

Akambo chief investment officer Chris Willaton said the recruit joins the expanding team at Akambo - now numbering eight - to support the continued growth of the firm's managed account offering.

"Nick's background in setting up and running SMAs at Commsec and his more recent experience at NAB Global Markets will boost the talent and rigour behind our investment management processes," he said.

"Whilst the role will incorporate responsibilities across a wide range of asset classes, Nick will focus on Akambo's fixed income and risk management capabilities."

Willaton added that with $1.5 billion under management and expectations of further growth, he expects the team to continue to grow over the next year.

Akambo merged with First Financial on March 31.
