The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) has restructured its leadership team and appointed two new general managers. Tania Turnbull has joined as GM for memberships and partnerships and George Nelson will serve as GM of professional development.

A spokesperson for the organisation says the restructure will help AIST focus on member engagement and align its professional development with the emerging needs of fund staff and trustee directors.

Turnbull joins the fund from McMillan Shakespeare where she was group executive for marketing. She spent more than five years as the GM for strategy and communications with Superpartners and held a number of marketing roles with ANZ Bank.

"There has been so much change to the superannuation industry and the landscape that it operates in," said AIST chief executive Eva Scheerlinck. "AIST, too, has had to adjust and both Tania and George bring a range of skills and a depth of experience that we believe will benefit profit-to-member funds and, ultimately, their members."
