After almost five years, abrdn head of retirement and digital innovation has departed to take an executive director role with two digital advice start-ups.

Posting on LinkedIn, Jason Nyilas described ending his time there as "both sad and joyful."

A big part of his role at the Scottish asset manager was working in the financial digital advice space as he was tasked with expanding its suite of retirement products.

Over five years, he met most of the advice fintech and could gauge which would be successful under a Quality of Advice and Retirement Income Covenant regime.

Nyilas chose to join moneyGPS and HeirWealth as an executive adviser.

MoneyGPS is a digital advice business that has developed an affordable, easy-to-use, client-driven, bionic, omnichannel solution for financial advisers, super funds, SMSFs and accountants.

HeirWealth deals with the digital intergenerational wealth transfer space by tracking, organising and managing all asset types within one app.

All up, Nyilas has spent 35 years in the wealth management and pensions industry.

He joined abrdn from IBM, where he served as the technology giant's global wealth management and pensions leader in the US and the UK.

Before that, he worked in professional services, focusing on strategy, marketing, operations M+A and digital transformation.

Earlier, Nyilas was a partner at EY's financial services practice.

"I look forward to working with these two fintechs to increase our footprint in Australia and overseas," he posted.
