Roslyn Ramwell has been named the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) Trustee of the Year for 2022.

Ramwell was presented with the award at the Conference of Major Superannuation Funds on Tuesday.

She joined the Aware Super board in 2019 and is the chair of the asset owner's audit, risk and compliance committee and a member of its investment committee and direct assets committee.

Ramwell said despite the length of time she has worked in the industry, she was still really passionate about superannuation as it makes a real difference to people's retirement.

"The members put their trust in us as fiduciaries to do the right thing by them safely and sustainably and I take that very seriously," she said.

AIST chief executive Eva Scheerlinck said the award was worthy recognition of someone who has contributed so much to the superannuation sector over more than 25 years working in the private and public sectors.

"Throughout her career, Roslyn has never lost her conviction that superannuation is vitally important to delivering enhanced retirement outcomes for all Australians," she said.

"With her experience and expertise, particularly in profit-for-member boards, Roslyn has made a significant contribution to Aware Super, where she has worked diligently to ensure that its strong risk culture and capability are critical enablers of its strategy."

During her career, Ramwell has served as director of policy at QSuper, chief executive of CSR Super and Harwood Superannuation Fund, and a director of SAS Trustee Corporation, TAL Superannuation and State Super Financial Services Australia.

Earlier, she worked with the Insurance and Superannuation Commission, now the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority.
